What Are Spirits? A Live Crossroads Conversation
with Gary Shapiro
Day 2
Saturday Jan 23rd
8-9 pm
Banquet Hall
What do we mean when we say “spirit”? Are paranormal encounters evidence of survival after death, nonhuman intelligence, psychological phenomena, energy, or something that does not fit any current explanation? Splintered Spirits host Gary Shapiro leads an inclusive, lively discussion that welcomes investigators, experiencers, skeptics, and the paranormal-curious to explore the question without demanding a single final answer. A fun and lively conversation with the audience looking for similarities among different experiences in the hopes of getting closer to a solution.
Gary Shapiro
Development executive with 25 years in unscripted programming and host, as seen on Splintered Spirits
Gary Shapiro is a recovering development executive with 25 years in unscripted programming. He spent nearly a decade as the Head of Development for Discovery Studios’ West Coast branch, cranking out more shows about sharks, little people, and Alaska than he cares to remember. As VP of Fox TV Studios, he launched Inked for A&E, kicking off the tattoo-show genre (you’re welcome), and the hit talent competition R U The Girl with T-Boz and Chilli for UPN. Earlier, at USA Network, he helped launch the first season of Nashville Star. He still plays in the production game, but as the older and closer to death he gets, the more curious he is about whatever the hell his nephew, John Santa from Santa Paranormal, is getting into at cemeteries, ghostly conversations, and the afterlife.
